The Town Council, working in partnership with the Parish of Canvey Island are planting 47 trees to honour the men of Canvey Island who did not return from the First World War. The project will create a lasting memorial and has been generously funded by donations from the community, grant funding from Canvey Island Rotary Club and the Town Council.

The trees will be planted bordering the wildflower meadow at Tewkes Creek, off Kellington Road, with an obelisk and commemorative plaque in the centre.

A service of dedication is taking place on Sunday 11th November, starting at 4pm. This is following the Remembrance Day service being held at The Paddocks, the Town Council hopes residents will be able to join the service to unveil this project and dedicate the planting to those that fell.
