Waterside Farm Skatepark was a seven year dream for Canvey man, James Caulfield. This skatepark is almost complete with just one final piece of equipment left to be installed.

James came up with the idea of raising money for a place for the young people of Canvey Island to meet, skate or ride over seven years ago and with the support of Castlepoint Borough Council, Essex County Council, Canvey Island Town Council, Legacy, Essex Police and The Veolia Marshes Trust he has seen that aspiration become a reality.

Around 50 young people gathered at the park to see the Mayor, Cllr Cliff Brunt unveil a commemorative plaque. Canvey Councillors Ray Howard and John Anderson spoke of the tremendous effort put in by a large group of volunteers to get to the skatepark up and running.

The park, which cost over £200,000 also features a cafe with seating and a TV and a lounge area with sofas and games consoles where users can relax and chat.
